Matthew S. Crane is a freelance scenic designer based out of Denver, Colorado, with over a decade of experience designing scenery for theater and live events. After receiving a BA in Theater Arts from Gettysburg College, he got his start working professionally as a scenic carpenter.  Matthew then attended Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, from which he holds an MFA in scenic design, and he has been designing ever since!

Colorado design work has been seen at the Arvada Center, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Curious Theatre Company, Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company, Parker Arts, University of Denver Department of Theatre, Lamont Opera Theatre, Theatre Or, Vintage Theatre, and the Dawson School.  Matthew received an Onstage Colorado award for Outstanding Scenic Design for his work on Mary Poppins at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.  

 

Nationally, Matthew’s design work has also been seen at: The New School, John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair University, HERE Arts, the Gallery Players, Stella Adler Studio of Acting, The Workshop Theater, Everyday Inferno Theatre Company, New Light Theater Project, Theatre Row, Theater for the New City, Axial Theatre, Hangar Theatre, Forestburgh Playhouse, Rutgers Theater Company, Monomoy Theatre, the Winnipesaukee Playhouse, the Hartt School, Southern Illinois University, the Peddie School, and Gettysburg College.
